Hi
You know how you look for your next project and seemingly can't find anything to do? That was kind of what I was feeling like when I found my next project. I always have a stash of patterns and fabric hanging around and when I look through either one there seems to be a blank slate.
A while back FabricMart and Fabric.com was having some serious sales on Gauze fabric. I couldn't resist the urge to indulge and ordered my fabric from both companies. I'm glad that I did because each piece of fabric had a whole different look for each pattern that I had chosen.
To make my look complete I took 2 patterns and went to work. The top is McCall's 7163. This is a lightweight top that can convert to an off the shoulder look in a second. The skirt is Butterick 5757. There are a couple of variations for the skirt, but I chose the long one with tiers to give a "beachy" affect to my look because I actually had plans of wearing this outfit to the beach.
Here's the completed look.
The Review
Pattern Description: Misses Top with sleeve and length variations. Misses skirt with differing lengths and tier variations.
Pattern Sizing: Sm-Lge
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?Yes. Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? Very easy.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? It was quick and not too many pieces to assemble.
Fabric Used: Cotton Gauze
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: No alterations needed.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes and yes.
Conclusion: This was a really quick fix for the beach. It's light and airy made up in the gauze fabric that I chose. I think that this is a perfect look for a beginner and a Spring/ Summer wardrobe could be easily built with these patterns.
